Biopsy

Hi all

I had a visit to the breast clinic last Wednesday after having pain and finding a lump in my breast. When I first saw the specialist he said it could be a cyst. Then went and had mammogram, ultra sound and biopsy. Saw the specialist after this and he then told me it wasn't the news he was hoping for and the images are leading to high possibility cancer. I've been told that it will be discussed at this Wednesdays meeting and then will probably get a call for an appointment next Thursday or Friday! Is this all normal?? I'm hoping it comes back and he says he was wrong, but then would he say it's highly likely to be cancer ??

  • Welcome to the forum Heidi although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

From what you've described in your post it sounds like the specialist may have been referring to a Multidiscplinary Team (MDT). This is when a group of specialist health professionals come together to discuss your results and figure out what treatment, if any is required, will be best for you.

I know this will seem quite scary so if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll be able to explain in more detail what this means and answer any other questions you may have.

Hopefully some of our members who have been through this process will share their experiences with you soon but in the meantime we'll have our fingers crossed for good news when you find out your results next week.

    Kind regards,
