Stage 3/4 bladder cancer

I went with my father to the results of his tests on Tuesday and he was advised he has muscular invasive bladder cancer - tumour grade 3, regional lymph-node involvement - 1. metastasis TBC.

So essentially a minimum of stage three bladder cancer, possibly stage 4.

This was the first diagnosis of any cancer at all, so it's obviously shocking to us that it is already this advanced. He is due to have a CT scan to check for metastasis. That hasn't even been arranged yet. In the meantime, if anyone has any advice or experience on this specific stage of bladder cancer - 3 or 4 - I would be grateful.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Anne although I'm sorry about your dad's tests results.

I hope this information we have about bladder cancer will make your dad's diagnosis a bit easier to understand but if you have any questions you're welcome to make a post in our ask the nurses section of the forum.

I hope the support and information provided by the Irish Cancer Society will help you and your family at this time as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have been on this journey will offer their support and share their experiences with you soon but in the meantime, we're all thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed your dad's CT scan results will bring good news.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
