Hi I was diagnosed with DCIS in feb 2019 . Had a lumpectomy and though they thought it was around 2cm it was actually 4.2cm . Mine was then sent for an oncotype test which is only done in the US so had a 3 week wait for results. This is to try and help decide if chemo would be of any benefit. Mine came back at a score of 23 which was borderline so I then had to decide if I wNted chemo or not. To be honest that was Tough, I wanted my team to tell me what was best but after a lot of researching and asking questions I decided that it wasn’t for me. Chemo would have given me a 3% better chance of non reoccurrence and I just couldn’t make the numbers add up.i spoke to numerous people who had defiantly been over treated with chemo. This was obviously a very personal choice but 2 years later I’m still happy I made the right decision. I’m sure if your team thought chemo was your best choice they would say so and to be honest if they had said that to me I would have gone with it.
