Awaiting MRI/Oncologist help!

I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, triple negative
My recent mammogram and ultrasound were fine, no sign of spread and relatively small tumour about 1.5cm

The plan is for chemotherapy and then surgery

I seen my oncologist last week and he explained the plan for chemotherapy and what drugs will be involved and I signed the forms to agree to start, he just said I'll get information from the ward when I will be fitted in the next few weeks

Since then I've had an MRI as surgeons wanted a clear image of my breast for when it comes to surgery. They said it wouldn't change my treatment plan at all.

My oncologist never mentioned I was too see him again at present but after my MRI I received a letter through the post to meet him next week? I'm very anxious as unsure why this is.

Anyone with experience know why this might be?

I'm worried the MRI has picked up something and he wants to tell me but also if it was urgent why wait a week?
Getting anxious as diagnosed a month ago now and was told my treatment would start in June but no date yet

Any help would be great,

Thanks,

Rebecca

  • Hi Rebecca

    Sorry to read your diagnosis.

It may be just to go over once again your treatment plan can you call oncology see if they can help.

I got diagnosed with triple negative after my surgery and start chemo last Friday I didn't have an mri just mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy then surgery.

If I can help with any other questions please give me a shout, friend request.

The more support you have with others going through it the better as this is a very tough road.
