“What if” is one of the worst phrases ever! I could say what if I get run over by a bus, what if a dog bites me when I’m out, what if my house burns down...I could go on but you get my drift. It’s a negative way to think unless you want to flip it to say what if my treatment all works and what if my cancer never comes back? That’s the positive way to deal with this.

Fear is a very natural response to scary stuff, and cancer is scary. But I think it’s best to accept you will have a level of fear and learn to cope with it, live with it without letting the fear dominate your life. Because if it does, you’re not really living, and a life half lived isn’t much of a life. 

At the moment my main advice would be to take things one day at a time, one appointment at a time and don’t look to the future, because none of us know what it holds for us. 

I would consider myself a success story almost 3 years out from diagnosis and living a very good life, despite having this cancer twice and I know literally dozens and dozens of other ladies with fabulous success stories due to various groups I’m part of, specifically for cervical cancer.
