Recently diagnosed with papillary carcinoma of the breast

Hi,

l have been recently diagnosed with a papillary carcinoma of the breast. I am told that it is currently confined to a milk duct so comes under DCIS cancer. I am due to have a wide local incision in two weeks time. I am expecting radiotherapy afterwards. Apparently it is showing high oestrogen receptors. Not sure what that will mean for future treatment. Hormone inhibitors sound dreadful. Trying to stay calm and positive but worried about what they will find during the operation and the aftermath.

  • Hi sorry to read your recent diagnosis.

The fact it is confined is good news and you've not got to long to wait for your surgery.

It's likely you will be on medication for 5 years after your radiotherapy thats what my consultant initially told me. However we now know mine is triple negative so the medication wouldn't work so I start chemo Friday.

I found at times your given so much information you get overwhelmed  but my breast clinic are fantastic and I've just got to call them if I have any queries or concerns.

Here if you want to chat

    Best wishes
