Liver Mass and lump on Lung found very worries

My Father who is Over 78 las been losing weight and appatite.  Doctor sent him to hospital as  a GPA were they  did a scan and say he has a large mass on his liver and a nodule on the lung and they cannot  do anything! Sending him home with some medicines. The consultants were going to meet this week but I have not heard from them all week and I am worried my father will not get any treatment as he is fragile and has lost a lot of weight and because the mass is very large over 12 cm the hospital tells me - How bad is this? I am searching on the net but I don't understand the liver mass Stage 1,2,3 or 4 they refer to and  I do not know what that means for a 12cm liver mass?

Can anyone advise what I can do to understand what is happening to him and how to get more information from the hospital on what can be done?

Thank you

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Carla although I'm sorry you haven't heard back from the consultants yet. This must be very frustrating.

If you're worried it may be worth getting in touch with your father's GP. If you have his permission you should be able to discuss his situation with them in more detail and hopefully get a better understanding of what you've found out so far.

Our team of cancer nurses are also available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to talk things through with them as well.

    Kind regards,
