CGIN and Lletz

I went for my smear in January to get a letter the I am HPV positive and abnormal cells.

Had coloscopy to be told might be CIN or CGIN

March had Lettz with top hat and my cervix shortened to then be told 6 weeks later that the bigger biopsy has CGIN and have to get cells which weren't taken away in March and that I have to another lletz.

May I've recently had another lettz and had another biopsy... now waiting 6 weeks.

I've got two children and 39 so have no desire to expand my family yet the hysterectomy was declined for both treatments.

Has anyone else had this experience? I noticed that others younger than me was given the option to have a hysterectomy and they have children.

It’s quite normal to think that a hysterectomy is the answer to everything, but it would be considered over treatment when there are less invasive procedures which could clear the abnormal cells. This is preferable to major surgery. Another point is that a hysterectomy does not clear the HPV which has caused the abnormal cells, and abnormal cells can still return after a hysterectomy, it is standard protocol to do other treatments before considering a hysterectomy. Hopefully your biopsy results will show that your treatment has been successful.
