Questons to ask following MDTmeeting?

Hi, My partner has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer. What we know so far is that his teeth need to be removed and then chemo combined with radiotherapy.

We had a meeting with hs surgeon and mcmillan nurse a fortnight ago but the still had to biopsy a further lump before a final plan/prognosis could be given. We have the next meeting in a few days and I would appreciate any advice as to what questions to ask. Last time I was so shocked i couldn't really focus, and a few hours later wanted to ask so many questons but it was too late.

We want blunt truthful information but feel if we don't ask the right questions we won't be told. We only found out it was Stage 4 because i asked. They weren't going to offer the info.

I know my mind will go blank this time again, and my partner is relying on me to ask the right questions. Any advice appreciated, thank you

  • Hello sus47,

As you didn't receive a reply to this post yet I wanted to check if you have found the information you seek to bring to your partner's meeting? If not, perhaps it might be a good idea to check this page from our website with information on throat cancer? I hope this can be of some help.

Also, our team of nurses are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. if you feel like speaking to someone medically trained prior to your partner's appointment.

    Best wishes to you both,
