Tonsil and soft pallet cancer

Hi everybody, I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with tonsil cancer, and the plan was to operate to remove the tumour and the lymph nodes was told it hasn't spread which is a blessing.  Then had a panendoscopy Thursday which they found the cancer in my soft pallet, now been told a operation is not possible,  waiting to see the team on Tuesday to discuss my treatment plan, definitely radiotherapy to start and not sure next, anybody had or been through the stronger radiotherapy any help, suggestions or feedback would be much appreciated

  • Hi, my hubby was diagnosed with P16 positive tonsil cancer that had spread to the soft palate and some lymph nodes in January. He has just completed his treatment, 6 weeks of chemotherapy ie: 2 cycles, consisting of 5 days of chemo delivered via a pump 24 hours a day followed by 2 weeks off then he had 6 weeks of radiotherapy, everyday mon - fri with 2 more chemo sessions on day 1 and 21.  It's a very brutal regime but the consultant told us this type of cancer responds really well to treatment and has a good success rate so fingers crossed.  If this is what you are having I can let you know what to expect if you want me to.  Good luck for Tuesday x
