2 areas in breast 6mm and 4mm

Hj I got recalled from mammogram and had biopsy and been told I have 2 areas of cancerous cells  1 measuring 6mn and 1measuring 4mm. She wont even tell me if this is early stage cancer or not.

Has anyone had similar? What treatment did you have?

Waiting to be referred to the breast surgeon is awful..... x

  • [@Merlincat]‍ hi , so cancer cells its not lump , lump its cancer . As you mentioned 6 and 4mm its very small area  but surgeon will make decision what its best treatment for you. It may be local extension... but everyone its very individual as they doing more test grade . Dont worry to much, no one can give you accurate advice and you just going to be anxious with no reason. Keep calm and wait ... we all wait for test treatment plan and results. Beat wishes xx

  • Hi Merlincat

I'm not 100% about the staging process as I haven't been given a stage yet and I'm halfway through chemotherapy.

All I can say is that my tumor was 18mm when I found it and I was told that was classed as small, so yours must be classed as small which is a good thing.

Were you given a Grade? I believe treatment is based on things like the Grade of the tumor, and other tests ie whether it's HER2 positive/negative, MRI scans etc.

I agree the waiting is awful. It seems to take forever but you will get the information you need so your team can plan your treatment catered for you. In the meantime we're all here for you.

  • Thank you for your responses.  Not knowing is hard. Having 2 areas is scary. I'm a 51 year old single mum of 6 year old twins and am so worried how I'm going to cope.

Anna71 I thought everyone was told a grade?

Amy2088 I have not seen my consultant yet so do not have a grade.....

I have so much to learn.

  • It is all a whirlwind, especially at the beginning when your waiting for all the information. The thing with breast cancer (and I'm sure all cancer in general) is that there is not just 1 type, there are so many different parts to it and it takes time to get all the information to get a treatment plan in place. My treatment plan completely changed from having surgery, radiotherapy and hormone treatment to having to have 4 months of chemotherapy first and a years worth of extra treatment, all based on just one test for HER2 protein.

I can't tell you not to worry until you know the plan because you will worry, it is totally natural. I was convinced mine had spread because my mind was conjuring up all sorts of aches and pains but luckily it hadn't, it was all in my mind.

As I say there is so much support out there. If you need to vent feel free, if you need to cry feel free, if you need to scream and shout to get it out feel free. We've all been there and completely understand.

  • Hi Merlincat sorry to hear what are you are going through

    Its natural to worry

I had 8mm lump in left breast before they could tell me full treatment plan I had to take MRI Scan to find out if it had spread anywhere else !

Lucky it wasn't spread anywhere else

And i had surgery to remove the lump and removed 4 lymph nodes to check if they were effected but they were clere ,after surgery 5 sessions of radiotherapy and hormone tablets for 5 years

I know it's hard to wait to find out exactly what are you dealing with

Just try to keep busy to keep mind of things, they are small lumps hopefully its stage 1 fingers crossed

    Take care

  • It will be treatable stay positive
