Dismayed

Hi What a journey since December 28th. Found a lump got it checked out yes it's cancer. Biopsy result invasive ductal carcinoma potentially grade 1 Oestrogen positive Her2 negative all good however it's in 1 lymph node. Booked in for mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction  & lymph node clearance.
Had the surgery all ok until day 2 whoops back to theatre heamatoma. All good discharged doing ok 3 drains in.Whoops raging infection saw my consultant who arranged for me to be readmitted iv antibiotics back to theatre for wash out & the implant had to be removed. That was 3 surgeries in 17 days! Received histology report. It's now grade 3 26 lymph nodes removed 19 were cancerous. Urgent CT scan showed cancerous nodules on my lungs. Saw oncologist started on Laprozole awaiting bone scan. Due to gave bone infusion next week & start CDK therapy. I don't know whether I will survive 1 3 5 or more years. What questions should I ask? So so frightened & anxious about it all!

Any advice?

  • Hello Erinamy11,

You've been through a lot since December, but your medical team are there to answer any questions you may have, whether you're wondering what the next steps are or how you are going to manage. If you're not sure what to ask, something that might help is to take a moment and work out what you want to know more about. You can write it down and use it for your next appointment or telephone consultation.

I hope this helps and all the best,

  • Thank you so much for responding. I have got a notebook now in which I am jotting down questions for the Drs. I have now developed 3 large seromas around the surgery site. It feels like one thing after another right now.
