Duodenum stage 4 cancer

Hello

does anyone here have experience of duodenum stage 4 inoperable cancer? My mum was diagnosed last week after initially being told she had pancreatic cancer. Her cancer has spread to her stomach lining but my understanding is no where else. We are meeting the oncologist next week and I'm trying to make sure I am as prepared as possible. Out CNS and doctors who diagnosed her haven't given us any hope and have strongly indicated we should weigh up the benefits of treatment - it sort of feels like they are already writing her off but maybe I am just being sensitive. Any advice, stories or tips would be great. Mum had a duodenum stent fitted last week so she is feeling sick constantly and has a little appetite but we have no got ensure drinks and pro cal shots prescribed for her.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. Obviously it's a difficult time for you all and it's understandable that you want to be as prepared as possible ahead of the appointment with the Oncologist next week.

We do have some information here on our website about small bowel cancer but I'd recommend you give our team of nurses a call next week. I'm sure they will be able to talk things through with you and help you think about some of the questions you might want to ask at the appointment. They are available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
