Recently been diagnosed

Hi I've recently been diagnosed with Cervical cancer and I'm absolutely shell shocked. I'm so scared and struggling with the constant roller coater of emotions. I've had an MRI scan and the nurse called to advised they think it is stage 2 A/B but need to go for a PET scan and then see consultant on 30th. I'm so scared they are going to find something else they have said I'm going to need radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I'm not going to lie I'm so petrified I just wasn't to curl up into a ball and sleep and wake up when this all over. I have so much support but I feel so alone. I feel like in trapped on my own thoughts and can't get out. X

  • Hi Meme123,

    Sending you big hugs!.
I hope your got some lovely people around you & they are being supportive?

Definitely speak to your doctor regarding your panic attacks I'm sure they would be able to prescribe something to help...

I'll let you know how I get on, my last 2wk referrals I've had the appointment within a matter of a couple of days so hoping this one is the same - fingers crossed!

Good luck on Monday, big hugs x

  • Hi thank you, yes I do but it still feels lonely they just want me to stay positive and at times I am but I'm constantly fearing the worse. Thank you keep us updated on your appointment x

  • Hi Meme, I'm sorry you are going through this. I was diagnosed with stage 2A cervical cancer in November 2012. My best advice to you is to take it one day, one appointment at a time. Chemo and radiation are hard, but you can do it. It seems the doctors and nurses involved in this type of work are so compassionate and understanding, they make it much easier to get through. I found that talking about it made it easier, too. I've had a PET scan and may CT scans. We are here for you, whatever you need! Feel free to reach out with questions you might have.

    Thinking of you!

    Laura xx

  • So I had my consultant appointment today theh have confirmed is stage 2 a/b and they've caught it very early its 4 cm in size. They have said i will need 25 radiotherapy 5 chemo and 4 bracytherapy which seem to be the norm. Next step is my planning scan so hopefully should hear soon then will be straight into treatment in the next couple of weeks. Is it weird that I am excited?? I just want it gone now! Its out stayed its welcome!
