Can cancer get worse before treatment starts?

Hi there

My husband was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer three weeks ago.  He starts radiotherapy in a week.

His symptoms are definitely getting worse with his voice now at just a whisper.  Could things have gotten worse?

he was staged at T2N0M0.
