Lymphoma - bowel lesions

Hi,

my mum is newly diagnosed with lymphoma (still awaiting biopsy results to determine which type). She has lesions of her bowel, her bowel has ruptured as a result.
we have a meeting on Monday to discuss her treatment goi g further, I think they want to begin chemo but they have said it is very risky as could rupture her bowel further.

my brain is like mush at the moment, I was wondering what questions I could ask when we have the meeting on Monday. Xxx

  • Hello Conlon85,

A warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear that your mum has been diagnosed with lymphoma. I can imagine you must be really worried about it at the moment especially as her bowel has ruptured as a result. You can read more about lymphoma on this page but you will probably need to know first the type of lymphoma your mum has been diagnosed with before being able to find out detailed information about it.  I hope that the biopsy results come through soon so that you find out crucial information such as her lymphoma type.

It is completely understandable that you feel like your brain is like mush at the moment and that there is a lot for you to take in. It is especially hard to prepare questions in advance ahead of the meeting as you still haven't been given a full diagnosis. Other members of the forum will have been through this before and hopefully  they will be along shortly to share their experience with you and they may have some thoughts and suggestions for you on the types of questions you could ask on Monday.

You are also welcome to give our nurses a ring and to talk things through with them on Monday morning if there is time to do so before your appointment. You can call them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope the appointment goes well on Monday and that you find out more about what her treatment is going to be and whether chemotherapy is an option.

Keep us updated if you get a chance! We'll be thinking of you on Monday.

    Best wishes,
