  • Hi Cathybin

Sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with BC

I know it must have been very worrying!!

Best not to think too much sit tight and get MRI out of the way and find out exactly what are you dealing with

Did they tell you what grade its ? I assume you have had the biopsy!

I was diagnosed with grad 2 bc in October and osterzen positive

And then they didi the MRI luckly it was not spread anywhere else and it was stage 1

I had the surgery and 5 days radiotherapy  and now on letrozole tablets for 5 years

Let us know how do you get on with the MRI

thank you, it's the waiting that's so awful. They haven't said anything but just want to look for it as they think it's secondary in the armpit, though don't know what that means but I'm worried.

I won't know until the 4th and it's really hard not to think about it.

  • I know just stay positive!!

Have you told anyone in the family?

You will need support to get through these few days

They did say to me as well until I have the MRI they wouldn't know if I have any secondary cancer!! Under arms are lymph nodes some times they can be affected

When they did my surgery they took out 4 lymph nodes to check it out if they were affected but they were all clear !!

So please don't worry just try to keep yourself busy with other things x

Good luck I hope you have better news on the 4th of March

  • Hello @Cathyben1,

Just read your post. Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosed. I know the feeling, once you’ve been told to have BC it’s like our world turn upside down BUT it’s not the end yet. Please stay calm don’t panic. Let me tell you my story.

26 October 2020 had my every 3 years mammogram. After a week I got a recall letter to repeat mammogram as they found something in my right breast. I went back to the breast clinic for second mammogram and then go straight to the other room for ultrasound. My breast doctor found a lump in my left breast but it looks like gel not solid. In my right breast she found lump and had biopsy. To cut a long story short I had lumpectomy on the 16th December 2020 more than 2 months ago.

After nearly a month after my breast operation I went back to see my breast surgeon. Final diagnosis;;  7mm grade 1 invasive ductal carcinoma, no LV1, lumph node negative 0/4, clear margin, ER 8/8 HER2 negative. So no more surgery and they give me treatment plan for radiotherapy.

A week ago I finished my 5 sessions of radiotherapy and I am on my long journey of “5 years contract” of taking Tamoxifen and mammogram annually. I feel good after all my treatment.

I know it’s not easy being diagnosed with BC but we need to be strong and always think positive. You are not alone. You have family and friends around you. If you need moral support let them know what’s going on. Worrying doesn’t help for our speedy recovery.

I am so glad that I found this thread chatting with strangers who understand how we feel as we are “rowing in the same boat.” Hope this message is a bit of help with your recent diagnosed. If you need somebody you can chat with, I am here. I am not working so we have all the time to chat here, and If you want to ask question please feel free to ask and I will answer you honestly.

Good luck and keep safe. X

  • Hi Lagerlime

thanks for the reply, glad you're on the way to recovery.

I just have wobbles every now and again. It's lovely that people are replying, it's just that I don't know what's in store. Great that you've gone through it and I probably will take you up on questions after seeing consultant on the 3rd now.

    thanks

  • Hello @Cathyben,

As I said before I am so glad that  I found this support group in CRUK chatting with people who has the same problem.

To be honest with you, none of our friends  know about what I’ve been through recently. Only me, my husband and my 3 kids know about it (except the breast team). I asked my family not to tell anyone while I am undergoing treatment to avoid “how are you’s and are you okay’s questions”. I’m sure I will be bombarded with phone calls and text messages once they’ll know i have breast cancer. We never knew what’s their point of views opinion about my recent plight and they do not understand how we feel. That’s a favour I have asked to them because I want to have peace of mind during my undergoing treatment.

Now that all my treatment has been done, I am thinking to tell those who are close to me, my family, in laws and church members. I am thinking when is the right time to tell them, possibly in a couple of months from now when we are allowed to meet our friends and relatives and all the restriction  will be lifted.

Always keep safe and take care of yourself. Before my breast operation I had covid swab test as well as before my radiotherapy. So had swab test twice.

You’re going to see your consultant on the 3rd March,  make sure you write down what do you need  to know about  your diagnosis as well as planning for your treatment. That is very important.

Wishing you all the best. Thanks x

Since January (15th) i was diagnosed with cancer HER2 positive my life its upside down. Please text any time , there is so many ladies around and we all here for each other xxxZana

  • Hello @kerry71,

Welcome to the forum! I know the feeling how it would be like after diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s not easy dealing with it. When I was told with my comsultant that I have breast cancer after the biopsy and was scheduled for breast operation I feel like my world turn upside down.

My husband pick me up from the breast clinic and drove home. I was not able to tell him what was the biopsy result after seeing the breast doctor when we are in the car as I did not know how to start talking about my breast cancer until we get home. Eventually I have the guts to tell him and  I explained to him what’s going on and tell him about the plan for treatment for my .7mm grade 1 breast cancer.

Three months had passed, done the lumpectomy 16-12-2020..Done the 5 sessions of radiotherapy 16-02-2021. Now I am in my long journey of “5 years contract” of taking Tamoxifen and annual mammogram. .

Since you are still waiting for the lab test, CT scan and MRI  result you don’t know  what stage your cancer is until you get all the result. So just stay calm and think positive. Everything will be okay whatever the result are. Oncologist know very well how to treat individual base on their prognosis.

Hope it won’t take so long before you’ll have an oncologist appointment and know the result. You are in the right place here chatting with real strangers who will understand how we feel as we are “rowing in the same boat”. I am so glad I found this group chat as support group during this dark times. Please keep posting and let us know how you get on.

Best wishes and keep safe. X

  • Hello @Anna71,

    Welcome to the forum.

You seemed a very positive minded lady after being diagnosed with BC.

Indeed! After all the result treatment plan will follow. They always offer treatment base on what type of cancer you’ve got. So whatever the result just leave everything to the breast team and you’ll be in good hands.

Good luck to your coming treatment plan. Please keep posting and let us know how you get on.

    Kind reagrds,
