Womb Cancer

Hi there I got my results and I have stage 2 womb cancer, I need ct scan and echo of my heart as I had quadruple heart bypass 3 years ago. I have to have full hysterectomy, I am not worried as I knew something wasnt right xxx

  • Nurse said histology gonna do more testing on what they removed, said would call in a week to tell me results. Do u think maybe they looking to see if spread. They took no lympthnodes, I’m so scared cos I can only think gonna die

  • Hey Mario, ok I see what you mean. I would guess that they are looking to see if it has "gone outside" the lining of the womb to the blood vessels.  This is quite common so don't worry, but you might still get the all clear after re-testing. If there are some cells which have gone into blood vessels then chemo would be given to mop these up so there is definitely treatment options. But let's not jump the gun until you get these further results. Keeping yourself busy in the next week is the way to get through it. Busy busy busy, and look after yourself at the same time x

  • Is grade 3 treatable if has travelled, I’m having a lot of bad thoughts, I’m gonna be stuck in my room for another week cos coping not one of my strong points. I was expecting them to say all out with some radiation stuff to make sure clear, but grade 3 sounds so much worse

  • Yes it is!!!! I was grade 3 and was due to have 6 chemos but I only managed one, and I'm still here a year later!!!!  Treatments these days are much more successful.  And you might not need chemo, or any more treatment, they are just double checking the pathology which is good. They are just being thorough x

  • I’m going to call the Macmillan nurse that called me today to clarify points that I clearly struggled to take in, can u think of any questions that I could ask that might help me understand. Only one I can think of is what are they testing for, sorry if I’m asking so much but I got to get my head in a good place but thank u for ur advice

  • Yes, give them a call to clarify and hopefully that will put your mind at rest.  They can't be checking for lympho-vascular if they didn't take the lymph nodes (unlikely they would take nodes for a stage 1).  So most probs checking for vascular invasion, so ask what they are checking for and what is the likely treatment plan, eg chemo / radio, or they may remove the nodes.  hopefully all will be clearer after your chat with the nurse. Good luck and if you can, keep me posted. Try to get a decent sleep x

  • Hi just wanted to check u are ok now with ur treatment. I went to see oncologist on 30th, he said never took lympthnodes as mri showed no swelling, and that I will only need 4 brachytherapy over 2 weeks, was surprised at this as grade 3 mix cell, I’m going for ct scan on 10th May so they can use as new baseline scan, so all I gotta hope is there hv been no changes since mri bk in match

  • Hi Mario, that's good that you have your plan in place.  With our type of cancer, IF it was to grow back, the most likely place is on the vaginal cuff, hence the brachytherapy. Trust your onco as they are the experts. Best wishes

  • 1st brachytherapy done, was better then expected just abit uncomfy, bit of bleeding but he said this would happen. Awaiting my ct scan lungs to pelvis, just to make sure everything is as it should be, so touch wood there good. I know you have helped me a few times on here I just wanted to say thank you x

  • Hey Mario, good to hear from you. That's great news that you have started the brachytherapy. Now that you have one under your belt you will know what to expect from each one and it won't seem so scary and you should feel less stressed.  Fingers crossed your CT results are good and in a couple of weeks you will be done and dusted.  You have come this far.. recovered from a big op and treatment is well underway.  Well done.  Don't hesitate to message me if you ever need to chat. Best wishes x
