Womb Cancer

Hi there I got my results and I have stage 2 womb cancer, I need ct scan and echo of my heart as I had quadruple heart bypass 3 years ago. I have to have full hysterectomy, I am not worried as I knew something wasnt right xxx

  • Hi Pabla. So sorry to hear your results.  I, too was diagnosed a year ago with the same. Like you, kind of knew something wasn't right but felt almost a sense of relief with the diagnosis!  Knowing facts is good and you are now on the road to a treatment plan and kicking cancers butt!  If you need to ask anything at all, please do  Best wishes to you x

  • Thankyou, I hope you are well xx

  • Can I ask where ur at now if diagnosed a year ago. I was told 3 days ago I have stage 1 grade 2 womb cancer. Now I’ve read they dont know this for definite until hysterectomy is done, so now I’m scared could be worse or has spread. I’m trying not to be doom and gloom but I’m scared I’m not going to beat this, and even if hysterectomy takes it away that my life span is still going to be short.

  • Hi Mario11,

I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis of womb cancer.  The worry of whether it has spread with all the waiting is perfectly natural. I was exactly the same. With womb cancer they don't tend to stage it until they have performed the hysterectomy / had the pathology.  I had many polyps, fibroids, thickened lining at hysteroscopy and my biopsy revealed cancer. I then waited two weeks for MRI and CT scan then got those results a further week down the line. I met with my surgeon who explained what he was going to do and advised I also had a large tumour in my womb and it was a Grade 3. Then it was a further 4/5 weeks until my op as it was during the Christmas/new year period. The waiting wasn't easy but my advice is to keep yourself busy.  I had never had an op before or even been in hospital so I was more worried about that but it was all fine, and I ended up having a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy.  Op all went fine, but I needed chemo, radiotherapy and brachytherapy treatments afterwards.  It is important to take each day as it comes otherwise it can be quite overwhelming.  A year on and I am doing well.  I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have or need to chat any time. In the meantime try to keep yourself occupied. x

  • It’s all really scarey but glad your doing well. It’s all gone so fast and totally shocked me. I had the mirena coil fitted in Feb and the consultant said he found nothing suspicious so I thought I’d be ok. Then they did mri and asked to see, soon as saw McMillan nurse I knew wasn’t good. So they have estimated stage 1 grade 2 but technically it could be worse I had so many problems with my left side for a year now that’s I’ve convinced myself has spread. The worse thing is the feeling of no control cos there’s nothing I can do to help myself. Awful thing is will be couple months before know anything proper and I’m struggling

  • Hey Mario

i know it's a worrying time but if they say they think stage 1 after youve had the MRI this can definitely be seen as a positive. Stage 1 is the best it could be, and even if it was to move to stage 2 that is not the end of the world. Did they say if the cancer was in the womb or in the lining?  Scans, although not 100% accurate are pretty definitive so Stage 1 is the best of a bad bunch.  Mine was "contained in the pelvis" and was in the womb, womb lining, and had travelled to the cervix.  The hysterectomy removes all of this so often with a Stage 1 womb cancer a radical hysterectomy is all that is required.  I would focus on getting yourself through the op first and foremost as you say you have no control over what happens afterwards. But concentrate on eating and sleeping well so you are at your best for the op. Recovery time is 6-12 weeks (max) depending on whether it is laparoscopic or abdominal surgery.  It is completely doable, just take it step by step. Any questions, I am here. Best wishes. x

  • They say womb lining, and that my mirena coil should help keep cells there till op, consultant said wouldtry keyhole but my caesarean scar might make that impossible, I’m not worried bout hysterectomy I just want it all out, I always thought I’d be stronger with anything like this but the fear is over whelming, but thank you for advice, ️

  • You're welcome!  Keep yourself busy and let us know how it goes. x

  • Hi

i got my results today, stayed stage 1a but upgraded me to grade 3, I am so scared all I see is death sentence, if I’m stage 1a still it should of came out with full hysterectomy, so what are they looking for with there extra testing for another week, I’m so scared

  • Hi Mario

im not quite sure what you mean by further testing? Do you mean you are going for further tests or is it to do with the pathology.  Do you have a treatment plan or are you still waiting? You are right that if stage 1a. It should have all be contained within the womb so having this removed is good. Grade 3 means that the cancer cells are faster growing so I am guessing that they will be testing for vascular or lympho vascular  spread which would mean chemo. This would be worst case scanario and the thought of chemo might seem so scary but it is completely doable. Stage 1a is definitely not a death sentence so please try not to worry.  But if you can explain what the further tests/testing is first then it might make things clearer.  How is your recovery coming along from the op? Hope you are doing ok. x
