Worried, but guess someone else will be the same

Hi,

When you are looking for google answers, because you just know someone out there is going to be going through something the same.

Two years ago, I found a lump in my right breast - it turned out to be a cyst and at the same time they found a growth, which turned out to be a fibroadanoma. No big issue

I continued to have pain in my right breast back in August 2020 I finally went back to the clinic to have it checked out, this time they found a lump in my left breast, this turned out to be invasive cancer, of course google doesn't help when it comes to timings - I know two years previous I was clear, so in the space of two years cancer has grown - but on the plus side the pain in my right breast stopped hurting!! I had surgery in September and no nodes were affected.

My problem now is that I have a lump again in my left breast, I am seeing the breast team on Monday for imaging but of course I am a little concerned, I think it is a cyst because of the size and the fact it has grown quite a bit in two weeks, it doesn't feel like the last cyst I had though but I guess it's in a different area. My cancer was at the 12 o clock position and the possible cyst is what I think they would call the quarter to nine???? right next to the breast bone.

I chose not to have radiotherapy and not taking the drugs either (which my oncologist is aware of)

I was just hoping to hear from anyone else to know did anyone else get a cyst a few months after surgery? is this something quite normal in the grand scheme of things?

I noticed that the rippling I had previously before surgery - which at the time before diagnosis I had actually dismissed as nothing and it did go away after surgery, but now has returned, thinking it is just because this lump is growing and changing the shape of my breast.

So please if anyone has had a similar experience I would be very interested to hear.

Thank you

  • Hi Kay-D and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to wish you all the best for Monday and give you our cancer nurses telephone number in case you wanted to discuss this with them. Their phone number is 0808 800 4040 and their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5.pm.

Fingers crossed the imaging shows the lump isn't sinister.

    Kind regards,

  • Good Morning Steph,

Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the phone number, I am trying to hold it together until Monday but lack of sleep isn't helping.

    I have fingers crossed too.
