Her2 positive IDC breast cancer

Jus a few weeks ago i was diagnosed with Invasive ducal carcinoma Her2 positive. Mammogram showed fibroadenoma and ultrasound small lesion , when i came for biopsy results i get diagnosis: breast cancer . I wish to find someone with same diagnosis to keep in touch and chat about it . X

  • Hi [@Anna71]‍, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I too was diagnosed With DCI Her2-positive in december. I have since had a mastectomy three weeks ago, don’t be frightened by that, we are all different in the treatment we receive based on grade and tumour size among other things, the treatment paths can vary enormously depending on these things, even with the same DCI Her2-positive diagnosis. When you know more about the size, grade or other things get in touch, to chat with others and hear their experience makes it all seem less scary for sure.

You probably know this but if you type the @ icon at the start of your reply followed immediately by my name (yours being Anna71) it will alert me with am email that I have a message, if you don’t do this I won’t be alerted, so won’t know. All the best, Lyn. x

  • Hi [@yorkiegal]‍ thank you for your msg , so pleased. I have early stage one and Grade 3 Her2 positive cancer. I went yesterday to see my surgeon before operation, unfortunately MRI scan find another lump and i had again ultrasound and five biopsy. My cancer less than 10 mm and now i still waiting for biopsy results. So surgery on 12 th March if it will not change as there is more than one lump they may need to change type of surgery. I was mean to go for a day surgery , then chemo . Are you waiting for chemo too i believe after surgery it takes time wounds to heal. Lovely to chat , Anna71

  • Hi [@Anna71]‍ , They thought I had one lump originally, the one I felt, but it turned out to be two, found via ultrasound like you, five biopsies too. Before surgery they were estimated at 10mm and 6mm, I had the true results from the removed breast yesterday, almost 3 weeks after surgery, it was bigger. I had a two night stay in hospital after the mastectomy. After 3 weeks, the under breast wound is almost healed, just a 2cm piece under the breast that hasn’t quite scabbed over yet, I was given more antibiotics and am back at hospital on monday. My first oncologist appointment is in early march to discuss the chemo and Herceptin a targeted HER2-positive (ONLY) drug, it has completely changed the landscape of a HER2-positive diagnosis since its arrival 20 years ago and has made our outcome much more positive. Message me any time, I am in my 50’s and retired, so have lots of time to spare! Good luck with things, let me know how you get on. I’m sending a big hug to you. Lyn. x

  • Hi @Lyn, iam 49 years old. I had full hip replacement November 2019, was so happy with recovery after all nightmares with pain and surgery. And now ... cancer . But iam very positive i think its hard in the beginning to get used to diagnosis, still thinking it maybe mistake ... So sorry you had mastercomy but when you have cancer its not important what kind of surgery. I think its more important to be cancer free than anything else. Can i ask you , do you have treatment plan ? I see in my plan before chemotherapy will be External beam radiotherapy. Iam in London , what part of UK you are ? Send you my love and iam thinking about you . X( Zana) its my name .

  • Hi [@Anna71]‍ , I am in Lancashire up in the north west of England. I am fine with the mastectomy, I had reconstructive surgery on the day of the mastectomy, they put an expander in, it is currently two thirds full and they add fluid to it (when it has settled from surgery) over several months to gently stretch the skin to accommodate a  probable C cup implant. I was a 38e, but it was made clear they can’t go that big, I was happy, as they have always felt too large, they then in the future reduce the other breast to match. I have been told that radiotherapy is on the cards at the end of all treatment, the probable path is 6 rounds of chemo first, followed by 1 year of Herceptin every three weeks. This could change when I meet the oncologist face to face, but the surgeon would have told me this with some guidance from somewhere, probably experience. My appointment is the 2nd march. One thing I have learned is you have to be adaptable, radiotherapy was never mentioned, nor on the cards for me until the removed breast and cancer was calculated, and the size of it pushed me into the radiotherapy bracket. I am so sorry to hear of your hip replacement, so young at 49, and then as you say cancer, it seems unfair. Remain positive, a glass half full mentality (optimistic) is your best friend Zana. Come back to me however trivial the question may seem, I am here and so are other lovely ladies, you may find someone else may join this chat over the coming weeks or even months, that’s a good thing, knowledge is empowering. You take care my lovely. Lyn. X

  • Hi@Lyn , youso adorable, thank you for all your positive thoughts and support ! So lovely to have you around with cup of positive! We keep in touch with our journey, i believe we have very similar situation. You very strong woman and very confident. Love to get your msg. XZ

  • [@Anna71]‍ , You are very welcome Zana, Yes you are right, our situation does seem very similar, it will be interesting to see how things evolve for both of us. Enjoy the rest of your evening, and the rest of the week. Speak soon, Lyn. X

  • Hi@Lyn, how are you my HER2 +best friend? I hope you ok , i saw in some of yours chats you mentioned that you will have radiotherapy at the end ? Its that correct? i believe after all what its planned for us radio will be like a pudding at the end of treatment. Sorry if i sound funny . Zx

  • [@Anna71]‍ , Hi Lovely, I’m good thanks, and you? I thought so too, ‘pudding’ what a treat! I queried it with the surgeon, my question was if I have an implant in and a finished breast how can radiotherapy be given, surely it will burst the implant? The radio is for the chest wall, because one of the tumours was deep within the breast so I guess near to it? Not sure, I think it’s a kind of ‘belt AND braces’ approach if you’re familiar with that phrase? Lyn. X

  • Hi@Lyn, how are you ? Can i call today Blue Monday ? I hope you doing well and still positive and supportive no matter what. I remember you said next of your step will be 2 th March you going to see oncologist? Im keeping well , had preassessment today , booked appointment for blood and other preoperation checks. I got a letter today saying that to the index cancer there is a 6 mm satellite lesion superior to the index cancer , plus in addition to that there is fibroadenoma 13 mm. Waiting for biopsy, as you know i mentioned about previous fibroadenoma was cancer.Zana X
