What's the survival rate for stage 2/3 head and neck cancer?
Is it curable? Remission?
suggested radiotherapy by doctors at first but will thus remove the cancer completely?
Age: 50s, lump below the jaw

Hi Hams
Do you have a specific diagnosis following investigations?
There are many variables involved to arrive at a statistical prognosis.
The attending oncologist is the best person to ask.
However, and to provide some relief, certain conditions respond extremely well to treatment with excellent results.
I am two years out following discovery of a lump (involved lymph node) in my neck and treatment for tonsil cancer. It now appears likely that my condition has been cured with very few side effects from treatment. That said it will be a few more years before the clinicians kick me off their register.
Try to avoid Dr Google as it is likely to create more questions than answers.
Hope all goes well.
Thank you so much for responding
yed Dr google has really played with my mind! Definitely not the way to do research.
well it is definitely cancer? The lump is below the jaw line. Cancerous cells have gone to the lymph node but the doctors have said it has not spread anywhere else so radiotherapy can target that one location.
im just worried about the outcome, comes as a shock to everyone. Do people generally respond well to radiotherapy when they have cancer in that location?
Have you been fully investigated and provided a full diagnosis?
Do you have a plan for treatment?
Your doctor really is the best person to address your concerns regarding the clinical aspects of your condition.
However be assured that with modern treatment methods the outcome for many head and neck cancers is very very good.
Wishing you well
Paul
