Greetings all,
I am 74, male in UK. recently I had these things happening:
- two occassions of bloody urine none since (red herring (?) from catherterising post stricture op some time ago I guess).
- I had a single bloody stool followed by some normal looking but some floating,
- some flank pain but low say max 4/10 on pain scale. No front pain though throughout but maybe things are early stage.
- picked up on a bit of weight loss (9lbs in 11st 9lbs)
- then a a series of three yellow, black, floating (not all - a bit random) but now all stools are lighter brown w/o a repeat (yet!) of the black/yellow and no further floating. Varying Bristol Stool chart types.
Had a blood test and according to Dr., liver, spleen and pancreas doing their job OK except he noted lipase level was 10% lower than expected. Had a scan of the stomach area and report was OK so no whatever it is they look for. i mentioned the weight loss at this point so sent for a colonoscopy and gastroscopy (noted my 3cm sliding Hiatus Hernia). These picked up respectively on extensive Diveticular and some benign looking polyps in stomach (one 5mm flat raised!) with a clear duodenam. Sample taken in colon for biopsy but not stomach (must be clear then!).
Been thinking though, surely the stomach problems do not produce yellow stools (does it?) that's in the Bile duct area and associated organs like liver, pancreas, Gall and ducts restricting the delivery of bile and stuff. Am I right? If I am then the bloody stools and colour changes are linked! Perhaps the way they investigate is to start on the stomach first. Waiting for results but thinking about what I should say to the Dr to get more checking done as as I understand it if i have Pancreas cancer or Non-Hodgkins (my brother succumed to that).
Waiting for biopsy results.
- other symptoms since? Maybe, not sure here but since I have had couple of attacks of feeling week and shakey (like low sugar levels) which pass after an hour or so. But I am well hydrated and eat a lot. Also a lot of palpitations (Bounding) lasting some hours which is really stressful. I have no other symptoms at this time for classic cancers I do have hypertension. trying to eat more to see if weight increases and it does a bit but I guess the lighter stools probably means I am not absorbing as many nutirents.
Be very appreciative of feedback and advice at this stage so I can get a better idea of the way forward. maybe it will pass but not convinced at this stage. Thanks.
