Chemo is now or never - looking for support

My husband became ill end of Nov. Bowel cancer with liver spread. Told we would likely hear within 2 weeks, there have been slow appointments, daily deterioration and the chemo cancelled for last Friday (when it was supposed to start). Now told could be next week, and 'is now or never' as his physical condition is poor and he may not cope. Had anyone had success after being so poorly?

I feel terrible that I didn't push for an earlier decision on treatment.  I trusted we were in safe hands.

  • Hello Morjana,

I am so so sorry to hear about what happened to your husband, that you have had to suffer all these delays and cancellations which I assume may have been linked to the current coronavirus situation. I am keeping everything crossed that his chemotherapy treatment does start next week and that it works as well as possible on him.

Don't feel terrible  - none of this is your fault at all and you could not have brought the treatment to an earlier date as those decisions are sadly often totally beyond your control.  I am sure you are a great source of support for your husband at a time when he needs it the most.

If at any point you wish to discuss this with our nurses, feel free to get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 40 40 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that everything goes well for your husband and that it all goes ahead for him next week. I will now let our other members who have been in a similar situation come and share their experiences with you.

    Best wishes,
