Gliobastoma Stage 4

My Dad has recently been diagnosed with Gliobastoma stage 4. Unfortunately surgical intervention was not an option but he is being treated with chemo and radiotherapy.

Some days we seem to plateau in our emotions, other days it's a real roller coaster of emotions.  The unknown is all too frightening.

My main questions are surrounding what can I expect in the coming months and how can I help him cope?

  • Hello Jessie0909

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's recent diagnosis. It's obviously a difficult time for you all but I'm glad to hear that there are some treatment options available for him.

As you've already experienced, life in the immediate aftermath of a cancer diagnosis can be a real rollercoaster and the unknown very often leads to people feeling much more afraid and anxious. We do have some information on our website about Glioma and I'd also suggest having a look at The Brain Tumour Charity website.

It often helps to talk things through with someone as well so you might like to give our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be happy to chat with you and give you some advice, information and support. If you'd like to talk to them they're available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
