TNBC diagnosis

Hi Everyone , I'm Rosie

I'm not usually good at these types of forums....not technically minded.

I am 58 year old and found a lump in my right breast at Christmas .  I acted immediately.  I have just received mind blowing diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer early stage, and told chemotherapy to blast the 2" tumour will start next week, and I will loose my hair

I feel as if I have been given a death sentence and can't stop crying.

Looking for support and reassurance.

  • Hi Rosie

aah thank you, all went well :) they said that the area if my 2 lumps originally was 5cm and the pathology showed that it was 2.9cm when they took it out so i had a partial response to the chemotherapy. The lymph nodes they took from under my arm were all clear!! :) it was noticed on my first CT scan that an internal mammory lymph node was enlarged but the scan I had end of December showed that it had gone from 5mm to 3mm  therefore they said they will never know if it was just Inflammed because of the biopsies I had or wether it was actually the cancer and the chemo got rid of it.

So my plan now is Radiotherapy to my whole chest area including that internal lymph node and the lymph nodes under my arm just to be sure,  to be sure :) and then I'm done.. see the surgeon in 6 months to check the reconstruction and then 12 monthly mammograms.

    How are you feeling today?

    xx

  • Hi Superwoman

We are over the moon for you and your family::happy:  Good news about the lymph nodes as well:happy:

I know this will sound totally nuts , but I'm eager to start the chemo and begin my journey. Hubby and I had major plans and this wee devil , along with Covid has scuppered them.

I've drawn on you for inspiration and can't thank you enough.

    Congratulations again.

    Let's keep in touch.

    Rosie xx

Going to soak in my bubble bath and have serious  conversation with this wee

  • Aww thank you so much, I was very relieved when they said that it had been blasted and those nodes were clear :)

you don't have to thank me honestly. I know how hard it is when you first come into this rubbish thing and am  so happy I can help you through it :)

ha ha I spoke to Phil and Grant (that's what I christened my lumps) in the shower. It's good to give them a little friendly warning! And I used to play destiny's child I'm a survivor and singing along lol sounds ridiculous but made me feel strong and in control of the two of them lol.

I was like you too I just wanted to get started and get them out of there! Going for the actual chemo isn't too bad at all either once you've been for the first it will feel like second nature. They might suggest you have a PICC line (have they mentioned that) it saves you having to have a cannula put in every week it's a bit weird at first but you get used to and hardly notice it.

Aah yeah it does put a dampener on plans this thing but as you say we couldn't be doing much anyway with Covid.. are you off work now? Did you say you worked in the hospital? I do too I'm a ward based medicines management technician so I've not worked since the day I was diagnosed (well I did a bit from home) but then as soon as my treatment started I had to switch form sheilding to sick.

yes definitely keep in touch. I sent you a friend request on here too just in case you want to message privately about anything.

Hope you had a good chill in the bath and give that thing what for! :) I'm just having a nice glass of wine and a chill

    Xxxx
