Prostate Cancer

Can you tell me please what the treatment for T3a Prostate cancer is and recovery rate? Thank you

  • Hi Milly and welcome to Cancer Chat.

You can find out about the treatment options for prostate cancer just here but if you'd like to discuss this in more detail with our team of cancer nurses, do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. You may find the charity Prostate Cancer UK quite useful as well.

We have quite a few members on the forum with this diagnosis so hopefully they'll pick up on your post and share their experiences with you soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Millyf, I have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer.I had blood test that came back with a PSA of 15, 2 weeks later, another blood test was 16.My Gleason score was 4 + 3 ( group 3).That's a middle group, group 1 & 2  are low,4,5,6  & 7 are higher.I have been to local hospital about 20 times in last few month's,seeing specialist, urine tests, blood test,MRI scan, biopsy, bone scan(with 3 hour wait after being injected c.t .scan(found something on it,so got another scan next week), the only good news is no parking fees while covid is on,so I have saved a bomb. The 3 option i have been told are, hormone treatment followed by chemo, surgery or just watch and monitor( just have 3 or 6 monthly blood test).I am going for watch and monitor but if my 2nd c.t scan shows it as spread, that option is a no go.Try and keep positive,My son in laws grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 70 and died at 93,but not of prostate cancer,it is a very slow growing type of cancer, so can take 20 to 30 years to spread, if at all. All the best john
