Hi, I'm an English ex-pat currently living in Portugal. Language, as you might imagine, is a bit of a problem. I wanted to hear if somebody has had a similar experience with this type of cancer and treatment. I was diagnosed by the hospital, here in Portugal, with something called a localised P16 positive legion on the back and side of my tongue after they took a biopsy. I've received treatments during August - October of 33 Radiotherapy (Head & Neck) and 2 Chemotherapy, Cisplatin (conducted at the same time 'chemoradiotherapy') but I'm awaiting another scan to see how effective it's been, my final radio treatment was on the 8th October. I appreciate that this combination Chemoradiation treatment, has harsh and severe side effects but they were looking to 'cure' this. Because of COVID my scan has not materialized and I've not been able to see anybody. I've been having many side effects, they come they go, NO saliva at all, No sense of taste at all, plus lots of other side effects. BUT I wanted to ask in this forum is, as you can imagine, the answers over here are difficult for me, after this time is this new swelling under my chin and in my throat normal after this treatment? I'm expecting a call from the hospital Monday with hopefully a date for my scan. I'm just very worried and in limbo and I'd really appreciate an easy to understand answer in English.THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help
