Recent diagnosis

Hi, I'm Ruby. I'm 52 and very recently diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 1b

i will have a full hysterectomy and lymph nodes removed.

Then radiotherapy after I've healed.
So very nervous and a bit scared.

I have tried to stay happy and me and my daughters laugh a lot.

would love to chat to others

  • Hi Ruby, it's understandable to be scared. I was you a year ago. Diagnosed/treatment plan on Christmas Eve, although I was Stage 2/3.  I had never been in hospital other than childbirth so I was more scared of an op than the cancer if Im being honest!!! I was 52 and had a radical hysterectomy in Jan 2020, then discovered I needed chemo, radiotherapy and brachytherapy. It can be overwhelming but just take it in stages, do t think too far ahead. It's good that you have your daughters cos talking is

g-o-o-d .   Bottling it up isn't!  I finished my treatment in July and am happy to answer any questions you may have. Wishing you all the very best. x

  • Hello. Thank you for replying. So I'm now a stage 3 as they found cancer in 1 of my lymph nodes. So I start Chemo on 22nd Feb then Radiotherapy after. I'm recovering really well from the surgery and feel fit again. Obviously nervous about the chemo but I'm going to try to stay strong and power on through all this.

I hope you're doing well xx

  • Hi Benedict57, lovely to hear from you and you are sounding very well and upbeat.  That's good news you are recovering well from your op but sorry to hear about your lymph node involvement.  I was apprehensive about starting the chemo but the nurses are lovely and once you have done your first one you will know what to expect. You sound like a fighter and just want to get on with it. Just take it stage by stage and never be afraid to ask for help/support. You are lucky to have your lovely daughters. X

  • Hello

    nice to read your post

my mum has recurrent endometrial cancer and it's in her lymph nodes too so stage 3 I think

ive been reading on google and worrying myself sick...

she's had 2 rounds of chemo so far...  she seems ok and upbeat but I think she's being brave for us ...

have they managed to kill off the nasty cells in your lymph nodes?

how are you now catwhiskers?  How are you Benedict57

Wishing you both tons of love and best wishes   You are superwomen in my eyes xxxx
