Larger amounts of blood in stool

Firstly, merry Christmas to everybody. Hope you all had a festive day yesterday. I have a question. I was diagnosed on 8th December with colon cancer. Only had blood in my stools twice up until that point. This morning when I went to the toilet there was more blood in my stools than I've ever seen before (having surgery in Jan/Feb if all goes to plan). Just wondered if its possible for the cancer to get worse in that short space of time?

  • Hello Steviebird,

a little fresh blood looks like an awful lot in the toilet bowl, and all l think you are seeing is athe result of a gradual progression not a rapid upsurge.Good luck with your forthcoming op,

  • Hi try not to worry. I had bleeding for about 2 years which was thought to be inflammatory bowel disease. Then had a massive bleed  and finally diagnosed stage 3 rectal. Now 2 and half years post diagnosis and all is well. Just eat healthy and keep well for your op.
