Surprising diagnosis - grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma

Hi all,

so, after finding a lump last month on my tiny boobs I booked an appointment to see the doctor. I’ve got a slight family history of bc and knew the risks. But, I’ve had a scare before, so I was prepared for biopsy, etc, and a talking to about changes etc.

I had a biopsy and scans on Thursday last week and was told it was a Fibroadenoma, not to worry I’m only 32, yadda ya. I got a call for results today.

As soon as I walked in the (lovely) consultant asked me to phone my husband and ask him to come in. At that point it clicked.

So ive been diagnosed with a grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.

I feel kind of weird. I haven’t cried or anything, I feel numb I think. I don’t want to upset other people etc. Weird situation to be in !

anywho I have to wait for a few more results to know if we are going for chemo or surgery first, and I’ll know in a few weeks. Right now I’m just looking for a mate

  • Hi, [@Angelbless]‍

    Thanks for sharing your story.

How awful this year has been for you, and it must have all been so much harder with all of the lockdowns and uncertainties surrounding that. But congratulations on the birth of your daughter, I am glad she was able to be the light at the end of the tunnel for you.

How did you find chemo? Is that what you will be starting again next week?

I just want to get going now lol.

    yes, absolutely we will !

  • Hi!!

    Happy new year!!!

sorry for the late reply, I'm starting my treatment again next week chemotherapy. I didn't have many side effects apart from being tired and not wanting to do anything.

  • Happy new year!

How are you doing? I hope your treatment goes well this week, I’ll be thinking of you!

    X

  • Hi Phil

    Its really struggling today philx

  • Missed this Hun. Are you ok?

    How can I help?

Christmas was such a difficult time for us wasn't it! But I like to think we made it through that, now we get to get on with treatment and get ourselves back on track. Have you had any updates?

    Phil xx

  • Hi Phil,

hope all is well, today is just not my day.... I don't want to get up and do anything.

Just lay in bed and forget the world... I'm tired of treatment sometimes I don't want to do it, then I remember that I have to do it for my children and my partner.

I find myself being angry at times..."why me?" That's what I say to myself, I don't understand.
    My treatment is going well....

With this Covid + lockdown makes it more depressing, hopefully I will be in good spirits tomorrow.

Hope everything is good with you xx

  • [@Angelbless]‍ I’m sorry your having a tough day hun!

Thats ok! You can have slower days, because you’ve got to remember to rest and look after yourself. Your body needs it.

I think we all have the why me, days. It all feels so unfair and unkind. Express it in whatever ways you need to!

Yeah covid is sucking the little joys out of things. I’ve been feeling this lately too. I think it makes it hard not seeing family and friends. I’ve not been able to hug anyone other than my husband since my diagnosis and I’m not even a hugger, so if I’m missing it, things must be bad  I think it just seems to have gone on for so long now, we are missing the little things.

We should spin it around and think of the things we are looking-forward to doing once we are released again lol. I’m actually just looking forward to going for coffee and cake in a little coffee shop! Tragic

What are you looking forward to doing?

Surgery next Thursday, I’m looking forward to getting started.

hope your ok hun, don’t beat yourself up xx

  • Hi Phili,
