Newly diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer

I had a 1a melanoma skin cancer diagnosis and it has

Frightened the life out of me.  I have lots of moles and I

do worry that anyone of them will change and be melanoma too.

I do check my moles each month and worry that

I miss one that has changed or a new one has appeared unnoticed.  I am saddened that the NHS

does not provide regular mole mapping to check moles

Regularly after diagnosis.

  • Hello Wright57

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I know that lots of our members here will understand how worrying it can be and the anxiety that can result in thinking about what may happen in the future. Hopefully some of them will post to share their tips for coping with you.

I'm going to tag in one of our members [@AngieT]‍ who is very knowledgable about melanoma having been living with it for a number of years. Hopefully she will see your post and pop along to share her experiences with you and offer some words of advice.

You're also most welcome to talk to one of our team of nurses if you would like to. Sometimes talking through your fears and concerns can be a great help/. They are back in the office next week on Tuesday 29th December (9am to 5pm) on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
