Stage 4 brain tumour and yellow skin?

Hi all,

My dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour 3 months ago, a glioblastema stage 4. He was lucky enough to be able to have surgery, which was 2 weeks ago and planned radiation and chemo starting in January but I know there is no cure. we are in pieces and I cant even begin to understand what my poor mum is going through, let alone my dad. It just happened so suddenly, he has always been fit as a fiddle and is virtually unrecognisable, we're all in bits.

The questions I had which I hope someone might help with is he seems to be getting more and more yellow and my mum is fearing the worse. What does that indicate? I worry that by January when the treatment is booked he will be too ill to have it which will impact on how much time he has left. What do others think?

  • Hello SJP1984

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis and that things seem to have deteriorated recently. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things.

I'm unsure from your post if the yellowing skin is a new symptom or if someone has spoken to his Consultant, Oncologist or GP about this. If one of his Dr's are not aware that this seems to be getting worse then please do get in touch with them so that they can decide if he needs to be seen sooner or what course of action would be best.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks Jenn, he was in hospital this week for an appt, so the clinicians have laid eyes on him as it were. Do you think mum should call the nurse to express her concern even so? I don't want to be alarmist but it's making me worry, is it 'normal' for his condition and what can it mean?

  • Hello I am not a. Medical professional but working in a healtcare sector.yellowing skin mean something wrong with the liver I didn't meant to scare you but should call the doctor ASAP.
