Colorectal cancer

Hi there , 39yr old male recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer , 5 days ago , had a colonoscopy done and found an overgrown polyp   Had biopsy done and its cancer , im now waiting on my mri and ct scans , i know hospitaals are busy at this time but has anyone any idea how long it takes , im eager to get started , thanks

  • Hi Alan, sorry to hear your situation, I know the anxiety caused by waiting for the next steps coz I'm there right now.

Polyp / mass discovered during colonoscopy / biopsy confirmed, I had a CT scan within a week and MRI this coming Monday, the consultant has got things moving fairly fast and I hope yours moves with speed now and it's good you're in the 'system'.

You sound positive, keep on that vibe, although it's a rough time mentally you'll feel more empowered when you have some dates and a plan for the next phase.

    Stay strong x

  • Hi there , been a while now , hope your getting on with things , thanks for replying , just wondered what kinda stage your at now ? Seeing as were on the the same kind of timescale/path , ive had all of my scans and meetings now , just waiting for a surgery date , 53 days since diagnosis and still not started any kind if treatment yet , just wondered how you were getting on , thanks

  • Hello mate. Hope you are keeping positive. Things will start moving for you soon, hopefully - have you been chasing things up with docs? & is there any plan for treatment before the operation?

Things moving along ok here, actually today was the first day of my radiotherapy and chemo tabs, so it's spooky you've got back to me now. I've got a plan for five weeks of this combo to shrink it before surgery. Early days of treatment and it'll get tough & sticking to the plan coz they know best.

Stay strong mate and all the best with the next steps
