Diagnosed with bowel cancer

Hi,  i have recently been diagnosed with stage 1-2 bowel cancer and due to have surgery shortly.  I have started to feel sick, not sure if it s the medication or condtion.  I am 41 with 3 kids and my husband is great looking after me and i try and stay super positive around the family but inside im terrified.

  • Hello Mummabear,

l can understand why you would feel good news is in short supply in your life currently, but its really good to hear that it has been caught early with a low staging. The one thing about the increased prevalence of this type of cancer,is that the surgery and and aftercare has become more advanced and targeted towards the individual leading to a lower challenge and a faster recovery.l say this as a former fully recovered stage 4 with spread to liver.Your sickness will surely be the medication, since most grade fours do not see it coming until they get to that stage. Its natural to be apprehensive, but good to hear of your positivity, you have every reason to be so,hope the treatment goes well and proves to be easier than you fear currently,

  • Hi Gruntifen,

Thank you so much for your kind words.  I really hope you are doing well, i'm sorry you have had such a rough time also.  It helps to know you are not alone.  I am new to this forum so to have a place to chat makes all the difference.

    Stay positive

  • New here too, finding some balance after recent diagnosis - I hope you find some ease in your mind and body, we have to accept situations and try not to let things get too crazy. I've been on a rollercoaster this past couple of weeks. You have every reason to believe you'll have positive outcomes, just like gruntifen said.
