Mum diagnosed today with cancer

Hi all,

I never thought the following words would come out of my mouth, but today I have to say ‘my mum has been diagnosed with cancer and it’s currently in four places’ the ovaries, lower abdomen, liver and sleek . We are awaiting biopsy results to see the severity and what we are dealing with m, I’m not going to lie. I’m terrified.

  • My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer that had to spread,it was such a shock! But 3 years on she's on drugs that stop the spread and she's doing ok,I was terrified, numb, heartbroken but it will get easier, especially when a treatment plan gets sorted, onli in the last month my husband has been diagnosed with leaukemia and we are staying strong and positive! It takes time to get your head round such frightening news, but you will be strong and the strength comes from somewhere, mine did and I never thought it would, always here to answer any questions,I wish your mum and family all the best

  • Wow. I didn’t expect a reply and didn’t realise there was such an amazing forum! It’s easy to think the worst bit we have to keep strong. My parents moved back from Spain 8 weeks ago after living abroad for 12 years, then after they moved back my mum started getting really sick, not eating losing a lot of weight and looking very weak which was hard to deal with and it was only when she started vomiting I said enough is enough to my dad we are taking her Ito hospital. It’s very tough at the moment with covid not being able to visit bit my husband keeps saying you can’t control the uncontrollable but as you know it’s a huge shock and complete disbelief when someone is so healthy.

  • I totally get it! Not seen my husband for 5 weeks, hoping his treatment starts soon so he can have a few days at home,he was healthy, fit and then boom! Leaukemia! I still think sometimes that it's all a bad dream! But cancer treatments have come so far,my mum was inoperable but still going strong!
