Just been diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer

Hello,

Well I finally found out my diagnosis today. Triple positive breast cancer and they found it in the lymph node biopsy as well. It is just so scary. I've been told I'll have chemotherapy, mastectomy, radiation then more chemotherapy. Probably starting next week. My treatment will take over a year in total. I'm really struggling to be positive with everything ahead of me and I'm so scared it has spread. I have a PET scan next week.

Any advice or similar stories would be useful.

Thanks,

Corinne

  • Hello Magenta83,

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I just wanted to say we are thinking of you for next week and hope that your treatment goes well. You have come to the right place though for support and to meet other ladies who have had a similar diagnosis and treatment and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their story with you. It is normal to be anxious as you are about to have your PET scan next week and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it shows no further areas of concern.

I thought I would mention a few ladies on the forum who have also been diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer recently. [@Lemongrass]‍ for example posted here at the end of September about being diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer and would be a great person for you to talk to. This is just one example amongst many - if you type 'triple positive breast cancer' in the "search forum" function which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will be able to see past relevant threads on the subject so feel free to read and if you wish to respond to any you feel would be relevant to you.

You can also contact our nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you want to talk to them about anything. Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I hope that you will soon hear from other ladies who will know exactly how you are feeling at the moment having been themselves in a similar position before.

Best of luck for your scan next week and for the start of your treatment. Keep us updated if you get a chance on how things go for you.

    Best wishes,

  •                                                             Hello Shazlarr,  There were some difficult points particularly losing my hair during Christmas, losing my implant after my operation and travelling for radiation treatment was very tiring. I was stronger than I though I was and managed to stay positive and even worked part-time during some of the treatment. I had a complete response to chemo which I took as a good sign and started to look to the future. I'm on tamoxifen now and will have lipofilling reconstruction this year. I quite like my hair now. I am based in France but happy to chat if you'd like.

  • Thank you, what chemotherapy treatment did you have please. Did you need anymore chemotherapy after surgery. I eill send you a friend request thank you xx
