My lovely Mum

I am looking for some positive stories to share with my Mum.  We are both struggling to come to terms with her stage 4 diagnosis.

 

Mum had a hystectomy at the end of October for high grade serous endometrial cancer.  It was found to have spread to her oventum which was also removed.

 

She will soon start adjunctive chemo.

 

We felt reasonably positive until we saw the oncologist and now we just feel shell shocked.

 

If anyone can share any positive stories having gone through the same, we would love to hear them.

    I don't have any experience of the cancer your mum has, but I wanted to say I'm sorry for the diagnosis and what you feel at the moment is perfectly normal. My mum had peritoneal cancer which is always stage 4 on diagnosis, so I can relate to the shock you are feeling right now. It's so hard to take in, and it's hard to find any positives right now. However, Once your mum starts treatment you can focus on that and as daft as it sounds it makes you feel like you are doing something towards improving the situation At the moment you're waiting and that's always incredibly hard. 
     

    I hope it's not too long before she starts her chemotherapy and I wish you both well xx

    From your message, I can tell that you would have been a great source of comfort to your Mum.  I am sure she would be so proud to know she raised someone that reaches out to others to offer support in their time of need.

    I think it's positive that they have been able to do surgery. I always think you've got a better chance if they have removed as much as they can prior to chemo (just my opinion). My mum wasn't offered surgery unfortunately. The chemo should hopefully help control the growth of any remaining cancer and hopefully it will become a stable disease. My friends mum has breast cancer with shadows on her liver, but it is considered stable. She's doing really well and goes for regular bloods etc to monitor things. She knows it's not going anywhere, but she's had it 3 years now and is living a happy life. I know each cancer is different, but hopefully your mum can achieve stability. I send you both my very best wishes xx
