Any stories of hope (Stage 4 metastatic melanoma)

Hello-

We found out a week ago my Dad (70) currently fit and well to look at, still playing sport. Has metastatic melanoma in his brain, lungs and lymph nodes. Obviously a catasphrophic diagnosis and he is waiting to hear more tomorrow as to whether he will be offered any treatment at all..

He is struggling to get through the day at the moment and doesn't know how he is supposed to carry on with this hanging over him.

Has anyone had a similar diagnosis and outlived their prognosis? He was told months worst case. Any stories that could give him a slight bit of hope would be amazing and any advice to him or us to this devastating news would be so appreciated.
