Worried

Hb had colonoscopy today and a 40mm tumour was found. Looking at surgery to remove in about 2 weeks. I'm new to all this and slightly freaking out here! Any information advice welcome. My hb doesn't want anyone to know, so it's difficult to discuss with anyone else we know...

  • Hi Ali,

Where about is the cancer? Did you attend the consultant meeting...just wondered if you had a bit more info? I'm personally going through the same and may be able to give you some idea....jix

  • Hi Jix, Thanks for the reply. His tumour is in the mid ascending colon and about 40mm. That's about as much as I know at present. He had a bad rectal bleed in August (complicated by his being on Warfarin - he isn't now). The colonoscopy showed this malignant tumour and some other polyps that they want to remove at a later date.

We are currently awaiting the biopsy result but thats just to confirm..have been told that surgery will be in about 2 weeks. My husband is 74 but a very young, fit 74. Has a history of AF, which is an irrigular heart beat but that was sorted years ago (hense the warfarin) but otherwise, no other health issues.

This has knocked us for six. Obviously it's natural to panic but when they say to you, "we can't say anymore about long term prognosis until we get you open", well, it makes you wonder what they are not telling you - rightly or wrongly.

Where is your tumour/cancer and how are you getting on? Have you had your removal surgery yet?

Wishing you well, and I thank you for your input. Its good to know that we are not alone....
