  • Hello Jix,

once is enough fort most people, but there are those few unfortunates amongst us that get invited for a second go,and sadly you have joined that select band.

l went through bowel and liver cancer, and had my neighbour to thank for heightening my awareness as he went through bowel cancer a year in front of me,so l was inspection alert so to speak. He had low rectal cancer, where mine was slightly higher up.We are both here to tell the tale, and pretty much had a similar journey as far as the bowel was concerned,chemo---surgery---stoma---reconnected---struggle to regain control----eventually back to new normal. So off a few years of normality, before getting back in the driving seat, but we are both back to our respective lives, him flying around to remote rural regions of the world giving lectures until Covid, and myself farming sheep and cattle, both far too busy with no time for reoccurance.

You  have a few years in hand on us two,and l would expect you also know how to handle yourself with a struggle based upon prior experience,so l see no reason why you should not see a positive outcome as a distinct possibility,so l wish you well with your forthcoming treatment,

                                                                                                    David

  • Hi david,

Many thanks for your kind reply. Here's hoping to many more years.....

  • Hi Jix

Sorry to hear your diagnosis's .Have you finished your radiation treatment now and was it successful? I hope you are doing ok. I am glad you don't have to have Chemo as well for treatment of the lymph nodes?

My 60 year old husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer before Christmas and was told he could have an op. However, like you  he has now been found to  have swollen/infected lymph nodes. The consultant said it is  unusual and now more  complex  and he has to have 16 weeks of  treatment; Chemo tablets with  4 blocks of added Chemo treatment, then the same  along side  5 weeks of radiotheraphy. Then they will repeat all his scans  before an op. He is having a biopsy done next week on the lymph nodes. Did you have one?

Sorry to hear you also have bladder cancer.  Are you having your op soon?
