Metastasis Liver Cancer

Hi all, My husband is about to have chemo for MLC.  He'll have Ipilimumab & Nivolumbab combined for the first 4 treatments every 3 weeks, after this he'll have only the Nivolumbab every 2-4 weeks & continue being treated as long as it's working & the side affects aren't too bad. I'm really worried as we don't know what to expect, has anyone any knowledge or been through this treatment?

  • PLEASE anyone?? I'm so scared I'm going to lose him.

  • Hi Chattykathy, I have no direct experience of this combination, but know that it is usually safe, even if there are sometimes side-effects. Your husband will be very closely monitored, you can be certain of that. Wishing you all the luck in the world. xx Harry

  • Hello chattykathy,

having had cancer spread to the liver l can well appreciate the fears you are having to face. The chemotherapy has come on tremendously in recent years for treatment of mets to the liver allowing for the potential of retrospective curative excision following successful treatment in certain cases.Whilst not seeking to downplay the seriousness of your husbands current position, its good to realise that there is light amongst the darkness surrounding you currently, and remember that you cannot judge the outcome to be the worst case scenario at the outset of treatment.

l hope your husband copes with the treatment and it has a positive effect in controlling his unwelcome guest
