Triple negative breast cancer

Just been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer  hopefully will be starting my chemo in a few weeks, was wondering if there was anyone else going through this x

  • Me too, diagnosed 30 September, start chemo 16th Mx surgery after eight cycles.  Taxol/ Carbo weekly initially then EC.

Don't google it is very out of date, lots of good stories around and everyone is different.

Mine is in my armpit nodes, but that has nothing to do with reoccurance.

Also joined a great facebook site with knowledge and success for Triple.  it is scary.

    xx

  • Thankyou for your reply,I have been told that there is no tablets that can help with this,I hope all goes well for you, just want to get going on the chemo now x
  • What do you mean by tablets?   Triple negative is the most responsive to chemo and yes we cant take tablets afterwards for reoccurance but lots of ladies on the facebook page I have joined that have not had reoccurrance. Plus if you don't get again within five years your riks is much lower than hormone receptive BC

  • I know how you feel if you are newly diagnosed, it will get easier once you get things into place and start going, I am dreading chemo in some ways but also want to get on with it.

Hopefully we will be out of chemo at same time as life gets back to normal with the vaccine news today with covid fingers crossed.

  • Hello, sorry to jump on this post, I just wanted to reach out to someone. I have swallon lymph nodes in my armpit and one in actual breast all in the right side. I get my biopsy results Wednesday but my consultant basically told me he is concerned and we will take the next step when we get the results, he reassured me this will be very treatable.

How did you cope with all of this? Some times OK sort of ok and another time I feel like I don't want to do this anymore.

I'm 33 so this all quite a shock to all of us. I just want treatment to start so I can love my life again and forget this nightmare.

    Thankyou for reading x

  • I know I'm adjusting to it all,yes get the chemo started and we can both chat about it all, during and after,I am a positive person x

  • Hi that's fine it's good we have this site so we can chat and help others,I also have it in the  armpit and left side of breast,at first I was worried when I was told, coultnot eat and sleep but that only lasted a week,I've had the mri,ct scan and bone scan,I'm just waiting to start chemo now.I know it must be a worrying time for you and you can always chat on here if you feel you want to say how you feel, just think positive it does help x

  • Thankyou, I havent told many people yet, I'm quite a private person and I just want to face this with the people closest to me.

This evening I feel abit more upbeat, I've eaten dinner which is the most I've eaten for days! Sleep is OK but I wake up regularly through the night crying.

I know I need to pull myself together but it is so hard when you don't know what's going on!

I have an 8 year old son I find when he's home from school I feel alot better as I have to act normal with him.

I'm hoping Wednesday will get the ball rolling and I crack on and get on with treatment.

How are you feeling about starting treatment? I imagine you just want to get things moving too.

    Xx

  • I do understand I have gone through the same thing with not eating or sleeping,I haven't told many people I try not to think too much about what I'm going through.I can't wait to get the chemo started,it's good that you have your son about to take your mind off things it helps to keep busy,I find that walking helps and positive thinking also helps.Anytime you want a chat you can always message me,I know it's hard what we are going through but we can and will fight this x

  • Good evening,

I've just read this thread and wanted to reach out to you all and send you my love and best wishes. I do get how you all feel.... it's horrid. I've just finished my chemo after 6 months of treatment. It's been the hardest time of my life but as you, I stayed positive and focused and took it on. I did well! I tolerated the treatment and learnt so much about cancer and life in the way.

I have been a counsellor for almost 20 years so it's in me to want to help and listen to others. I have kept a blog throughout my journey which might be helpful to you. There's a section on coping skills and techniques on there.

Everyone is different with different treatment plans. And there is so much good news out there too! Once you get going you'll feel back in control and believe me the cycles go by so very quickly!

Do cancer/chemo YOUR WAY and you'll get it right.

Stay true to who you are and know this won't always feel like this. Promise x
