Surgery next week

Hi everyone

Not sure if you remember me but I had a lump and had a biopsy and its pre invasive dcis which they said is cancer but hasn't spread as far as they can tell. They wont know until I go in on Friday to have a lumpectomy. It sounds like I've caught it early and I will need radiation as my tumour is 23mm which they said is quite large but it's not in my lymph nodes Has anyone else been through this for high grade dcis ..... any advice or anything. I'm preparing  for the OP by trying to keep calm.    ....

    Hi Missy-j,

I am so sorry to her that your tests have pointed to cancer. The fact that it hasn't spread to your lymph nodes is good news. Did they tell you what grade your cancer is?

I had a lumpectomy 11 years ago and a double mastectomy 10 years ago and can assure you that both are quite doable.

I don't have much advice for you. I had worked myself into a terrible state before both surgeries as I have a problem with anaesthetics and have stopped breathing on an operating table previously. You are doing the right thing by trying to keep calm - worry doesn't really achieve anything!

I shall be thinking of you on Friday and, hope that all goes well.

If you can, please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
