Just diagnosed with stage 1

I have just been told I need to have a full laperoscopic hysterectomy in the next few weeks as my hysteroscopy last month shows precancerous cells and the polyp they also removed is grade 1. Everything became a bit of a blur after that. I had stage 3 breast cancer 10 years ago and the tamoxifen I took may have contributed to this current diagnosis. I am so worried my prognosis may be worse than it could have been as the hysteroscopy was cancelled and delayed 6 months due to COVID. I originally presented to my GP with spotting in February. Anyone else dealt with these concerns ?

  • Hello KCL,

I just wanted to welcome you to Cancer Chat and I hope that you will hear from other ladies here who have had a similar experience. I hope that the surgery goes well and that you feel reassured that the polyp they removed is just grade 1. It's a shame that your hysteroscopy was delayed 6 months due to covid but the important thing is that the laperoscopic hysterectomy will now be done in the next few weeks and hopefully everything will be sorted very quickly. I am sure that you will be in very capable hands.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have had to deal with similar concerns and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you. Should you have any questions about anything, feel free to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi KCL

I'm so sorry to hear your news and I hope you get your treatment asap.

I don't have a whole lot to say that can help here, but you have to try to concentrate on what you know right now and deal with that.

For your next appointment arm yourself with a list of questions, and make sure someone is with you too. I got my husband to ask the questions and listen to the answers because my head just went into a blur when I was given my diagnosis.

Wishing you the very best of luck XXX
