Chemo and Covid

As if chemo wasn't bad enough, i'm nervous to have it during covid.

I was told everyone will be 2m apart and wearing masks but they couldn't tell me how many people would be in the room or how crowded it would be.  Makes me wonder about the cold cap - an extra 2 hours in that room.

Anyone having chemo on the NHS atm and want to share their experience? I'm in NW London so anyone down here in particular i'd be interested.  I have the option of two hospitals and I'm not sure if one will be better than the other.

Thanks everyone! xx

  • Hi I had chemo in NW London.they were not allowed visitors with you.so you just had to go by yourself. The chairs were 2 m apart from each other.First I used the cold cap then I lost my patience to stay there longer then necessary so i give up in the end.i am stage 4 so for me the treatment never finish.from IV chemo i go first to radiotherapy to brain because its spread to the brain and after 10 days radio I will go on chemo pills which will be better I can take them at home and dont have to travel to hospital.i was doing IV chemo weekly since August 2019 and had no covid issues.

    Good luck

  • Thanks so much for your reply Denise.  Which hospital? (are we allowed to ask?)

I'm  thinking about moving in with my parents in which case I will have treatment at a differnet hospital.

I am also Stage IV.  Can I ask what is IV chemo?

    Thanks xx

  • Hi I am not allowed to name of the hospital but I was on weekly paclitaxel which shrink my lung nodules and got rid of the liver mets.so it was working until recently. Now my chest is stable but Now its in my brain for which the radiotherapy will work.i hope so1.then when i finish radio I can restart chemo soon as we stabilize the brain.i am only 43 and very dissapointed.
