Essential thrombocythemia

Hi Everybody

So this month i am 5 years clear of breast cancer. Woop Woop

But monday was told i have ET JAX2 positive. BOOOO

Roller coaster to say the least.

I'm 48

All the hemotologist said was to take 75g aspirin and it wasn't very high count (675) and will test it every 4month. he is sending me a leaflet for me to read.

Thought i'd come on here for some info/advice as i have only have my son and don't want to bother him (my parents died of cancer and he gets worried after the breast cancer) friends will just think its cancer again. Told my boss anthey have been very supportive through all the blood tests etc. i have an easy office job.

just want to say hi so to speak and then going to scroll through all the treads and try pick up some advise as i have bone ache, tingling hands and feet, ocular migraines and low energy/will to do much

thanks in advance for any advice

  • Hello Lisa and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on reaching your 5 year clear mark from breast cancer. It's ceratinly worthy of a Whoopwhoop! But I can understand why you're feeling on a rollercoaster having been diagnosed with ET and JAX2. It's a lot to take in.

It's really good to hear that your Boss has been supportive. It ceratinly helps when work is one less thing to have to worry about.

We've quite a few members here on the forum who are living with ET and I know that some of them have mentioned being JAX2 positive as well. I'd suggest using the forum search function to have a look through some posts and commenting on some of those posts. I'm sure that you'll be able to connect with other members that way.

We do have some information on our website here which you may find helpful but you might also want to give our nurses a call for a chat. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
