Has anyone else had this, breast cancer

So basically I found a lump went to the doctors who sent me to the breast clinic yesterday, I went for a scan and they sent me straight to mammogram and then back to scan and had a biopsy. They sent me in a room to wait where they told me they highly suspect it's breast cancer and will surprised if it doesn't come back as that. Has anyone had this and it came back ok?

  • Hi,

when I went to the screening clinic I think I already knew it was going to be cancer. I did ask the surgeon who saw me, if she thought it was cancer, after the mammogram/ultrasound and biopsy and she told me she thought it was but obviously until the biopsy came back they couldn't be 100% sure. I'm sure they have so much experience they can assess quite a lot from the initial tests.  I found that I accepted it would be cancer so when I went for the biopsy results a couple of weeks later, I was prepared when they told me it was.
    xx

  • Thank you both, so basically it's what I thought they are so experienced they probably know for sure it's cancer!

hope you are both doing ok x

  • I went to the breast clinic on 16th Sept. mammogram, ultrasound followed by biopsies.

I was told by the consultant afterwards that he would be very surprised if we weren't dealing with cancer. The ultrasound showed enlarged lymph nodes & a 26mm lump.

He called on 21st Sept and confirmed. Biopsies showed Grade 3 and node positive.

I am having a lumpectomy & full node clearance on Thursday this week.

Advice I would give is try not to drive yourself mad, I didn't eat hardly anything between the breast clinic and official results and it did me no good

    best of luck x

  • Thank you, my appointment is Monday. I am prepared for the worst I have 3 children and it's panicking me but have been told it looks primary and not in lymph nodes.

did u decide on a lumpectomy or did they suggest it, we're u offered a mastectomy ?

  • Awww try not to worry, I know it's hard.

I was told as I need to have chemo due to being node positive that they can get the same result with a lumpectomy. It's sitting behind my nipple so I'm only going to be left with a small flat breast wall as I'm only a B cup.

I've just been guided by the surgeon. He's been very good and explained everything.
i just want to get the surgery and results out of the way now and find out how many nodes are involved.

  • Bless your heart it's so scary isn't it!

I wish you all the best, I just want to find out what treatments are available and go from there.

please keep in touch and let us know how u are doing x x x

  • Yes it's scary but I think you're right once you know what you're dealing with then you can focus on whats ahead.

I'm scared *** not gonna lie but I feel positive that I can do this, I have to do this!

Best of luck for Monday xx
