liver tumour recently diagnosed

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help. I've recently been diagnosed with a liver tumour about 4cm told me it was benign from looking at CT but haven't had a biopsy. Docs basically said wait 12 weeks for MRI. My issue is I am in absolute agony. From my abdomen to the top of my shoulders accompanied by short breath and a very swollen stomach (I think its stomach) with extreme back pain. Feeling very ill but the worst has passed.

Has anyone had any symptoms similar with a benign tumour? Im struggling to understand the process when I'm in pain daily and today has just knocked me off my feet. Is this Normal? Also is it normal to wait 12 weeks for an MRI? I have no idea

  • Hi Rosegold98,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about the pain you've been in recently - I hope this has now improved a bit. If you are concerned about this pain or it is debilitating, do speak to your doctor about this.

It is quite common to have a wait for a scan, and especially at the moment where this is unfortunately a bit of a backlog and additional waiting times in many instances.

If anyone here has any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

If you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hello,

I have a ultrasound where six growths was found on my liver they did a urgent referral and I was seen by a specialist within 2 weeks and had a MRI the week after. They've told me mine are likely benign and I'm having a follow up in 4 months, I'm 26 years old also experiencing pain daily which I was told shouldn't happen with benign tumours so I'm worried they aren't actually benign x
