I've had a date for my mastectomy, 2nd November. was wondering what type of nightwear does it need to be front opening? Bras? Was mastectomy cushion helpful, what do I pack?

Hi Din,
I agree with Moonpuddle. Front opening nightwear. I had a double mastectomy 10 years ago and was advised to have some soft bras post-surgery, that I could pop my softie into. I too found a heart shaped cushion helpful and used kiddies padded seat belt covers for the car.
I also found that it was easier to have most of my clothes opening at the front to start with. Once your wound heals, you will be given a silicone prosthesis and 2 pocketed post-surgery bras. These are replaced every 2 years.
I hope that all goes well for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi
I had mastectomy with immediate reconstruction on 7th August . I was in hospital 5 days and was in the hospital gowns the whole of my stay. I had 3 drains and a catheter, plus the nurses check your breast constantly .
I was given a front fastening bra by the breast nurse which I wore on my trip home
for your trip home , take a blanket to slip between you and the seatbelt for extra comfort
Good luck I hope everything goes well
